This article discusses the progress a baby and a mother-to-be go through during the 10th and 12th week of pregnancies.
When you are 10 weeks pregnant, your baby is now officially a fetus and takes a crouching position. The most important aspects of your baby’s development is now over and any malformations would have already been known to you. Henceforth, developmental processes will be carried out. Your baby’s eyes will slowly begin to open as the skin that seals the eyes splits to expose the eyelids. As a mother-to-be, you may not be spotting a big belly still. Yet, you are beginning to wear looser clothing and may even be starting to check out maternity wear. You will still feel tired and experience mood swings but be rest assured that they may not continue for very long more.
When a woman is 12 weeks pregnant, the fetus is growing in size and now weights
between 3/10 to half an ounce. Tooth buds, fingernails, toenails are all starting to take full form. Chances of miscarriage also drop drastically at this point. Mothers-to-be may now begin to feel better with less nauseating feeling and enhanced energy. However, some 10 weeks pregnant women may still experience slight headaches, dizziness and tiredness. Your weight would have increased by about 3 to 5 pounds. Many women develop stretch marks on your breasts, abdomen, buttocks and even hips at some point during their pregnancy. The truth is that these marks do not disappear but may slowly fade off after delivery. This phenomenon can only be reduced if not eliminated by putting on weight gradually.
12 weeks mark the end of the 3rd month of pregnancy. The baby is now fully formed and just need to grow to full term. However, the gender may still be difficult to ascertain in an ultrasound. It may take a few weeks more before you get to know this exciting news about the gender of your baby.
